Skirmish 5
The Shadow Destroyer vs. ?

We come in on the Shadow Destroyer, some burn marks adorning it and several Federation, Klingon, Romulan and ISA ships after it.

Imperial Captain: Sheesh, these people don't quit. How are repairs coming?

Imperial Lackey: Most of the Shadow weapons are back online and the hull is beginning to repair itself.

Imperial Captain: Good enough for me. Turn around and prepare to fire.

Still under bombardment from the pursuing ships the Shadow Destroyer turns around to fight them. An Akira class and two Birds of Prey that had sped ahead of the group quickly break off.

Earth Alliance Captain: Not good.

The Shadow Destroyer fires a Shadow Slicer along with a full barrage of turbo laser fire into the Omega class blowing off its entire forward section and wasting the rotating section. All that's left is a powerless thruster assembly.

Federation Captain: SHIT!!! All right, fire everything you've got into it, but don't stay around for the return presents!

Two Miranda class and the Akira fire full spread of phasers and photon torpedoes into the Shadow Destroyer and break off to make a run for it. Shadow slicer beams tear apart one of the Miranda classes while turbo lasers pound the hell out of the other. The Shadow slicer cannon tears into the Akira's saucer section and takes off a piece of warp nacelle.

Ranger Commander: Tell the Nebula class starship and the Warbird to follow us.

Two White Stars and a Vree attack saucer lead the attack with the Warbird and Nebula class close behind. The Vree saucer does only slight damage when it opens its full firepower on the Shadow Destroyer, but they go ahead and slice it to ribbons anyway. The White Stars fly over laying massive fire into it, even cracking the shields. One White Star manages to get out unharmed while the other is taken out. The Nebula class and Warbird fire massive torpedo volleys into the Shadow Destroyer causing some hull damage. The Warbird is sliced up and the Nebula class loses its weapons platform. The remaining damaged ships leave in a hurry.

Imperial Captain: I do so love this ship.

A Vorcha class Klingon cruiser bites the dust along with one of its Bird of Prey escorts. Two smaller Romulan ships fire a few torpedoes into it then cloak. Any ships not gone yet leave too.

Imperial Captain: funny, sometimes with this ship… I almost wish battles were more challenging.

The bridge crew catches on surprisingly fast.

Shadow Destroyer's Bridge Crew & Captain: ALMOST!!

Imperial Lackey: Uh…sir…detecting two unidentified ships!

Imperial Captain: Really? Put them on the TV thingy…

Imperial Lackey: Ok. There you go.

Imperial Captain: those have to be the ugliest ships I've ever seen. What kind of idiots would design those things?

We are the Borg. Existence as you know it is over. From this time forward your culture will adapt to service ours. Resistance is futile.

Imperial Captain: Ooh, big talkers. Let's show them that talk is cheap.

The Shadow Destroyer cuts loose with an impressive barrage, leaving smoldering pot holes where the turbo lasers hit and the slicers causing massive cracks in the Cube. The Sphere nearly shatters under the firepower of two slicer cannons.

Imperial Lackey: Uh…sir! These "Borg" have caught us in some sort of tractor beam!

Imperial Captain: What?! That's not possible! Um…our shields are up aren't they?

Imperial Lackey: Yes sir, shields are up, but that tractor beam is sucking up all their power!

Imperial Captain: Well…FIRE!!! Blow up that tractor beam emitter!

The Shadow Destroyer cuts loose with all sorts of weapons fire, causing heavy damage to the outer hull but failing to release the tractor beam. The Shadow slicers fire and crack the outer hull some more, eventually hitting and blowing up the tractor beam emitter.

Imperial Captain: All right! Take that you designing know-nothings!

Imperial Lackey: Um…they locked onto us with another tractor beam and are now firing torpedoes at us…

Imperial Captain: Great…can things get any worse?

Imperial Lackey: They're regenerating the damage we did…

Imperial Captain: Oh boy. That is so not good…

Imperial Lackey: The Sphere ship is firing at us too! The shields are failing fast!!

Imperial Captain: All right…prepare for emergency maneuver two… I hope this works…

The Shadow Destroyer cuts loose with every single Shadow Slicer it has, the sheer power of 20 Shadow Slicers firing at one pushes it back quite a ways, pulling it right out of the Borg tractor beam. The Borg Cube, the first ever hit by 20 Shadow slicers at once, fairs oddly well. Over half the ship explodes and it spins wildly into the sphere, causing it to blow up and a third of the remaining cube to be destroyed.

Imperial Lackey: The smaller ship is destroyed and we took out about 70% of the cube!

Cheering on the Shadow Destroyer comes a little bit too soon. The shattered remains of the Borg cube start to move. The biggest piece starts firing at the Shadow Destroyer.

Imperial Lackey: Uh…sir! That piece is firing with all the power of the whole cube!!

Imperial Captain: Over 7/10ths of the ship destroyed and it can still function at full power…impressive. Finish it off.

Imperial Lackey: Uh…sir, most of our power has been drained… we can't fire Shadow weapons and our shields are just barely online…check that, they're down.

Imperial Captain: Fine, use light turbo lasers and fighters to widdle it away.

The Shadow Destroyer and its fighters fire into the remains of the Borg cube slowly chiseling it away. Eventually a TIE bomber is nicked by a Borg weapon and crashes into the ship. The explosion is fairly impressive although it doesn't finish the cube off. The Shadow Destroyer reroutes power to finish it off with a Shadow slicer.

Imperial Lackey: Sir, we're detecting some sort of power surge…

A Borg drone beams into the bridge and kills a nearby lackey. Someone pulls out a blaster and kills it. 3 more drones beam in, the guy fires killing another drone, but the rest adapt and are unharmed.

Imperial Captain: Fire the slicer quick!!!

The Shadow Destroyer fires the slicer destroying the Borg vessel. Unfortunately nearly a dozen Borg drones have beamed in various places of the ship.

Will they get out of this mess?
